The Advent Calendar is a picture made out of paper and has numbered boards dated from December the 1:st until Christmas. When the boards opens it will contain a picture of for example a Toy or a winter motive. Since the pictures were printed on transparent paper it occurs a special effect when they was hanged up in a window and became translucent thru the light from the window.
The first Advent Calendar was introduced in Sweden in 1932 after a German prototype. The Swedish Girls Scout federation introduced it and thru decades the Artist Aina Stenberg – MasOlles calendars were the models for Swedish calendars.
The Advent Calendar, were and still is, together with a day by day candle made for the children so the excitement for Christmas would increase
