Advent
Adve´nt from Latin advéntus [Do´mini] ‘[the Lords] arrival’ of adve´nio arrive and it is a part of the Church year as a part of the preparations for Christmas and it has been like that since the end of the 500 - Century. The period goes from the 4:th Sunday before Christmas until Christmas evening. The Church year begins with the first Sunday in advent.
